Brooke Carter

Brooke Carter is a Canadian novelist and poet. Brooke is the author of several books for teens, including the YA fantasy The Stone of Sorrow and the contemporary hi-lo books Another Miserable Love Song, Learning Seventeen (commended by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre as a Best Book for Teens), Lucky Break, The Unbroken Hearts Club (a CCBC Starred Best Book for Teens), Double or Nothing (a Junior Library Guild Gold Selection), Sulfur Heart and Star Eaters. The forthcoming Ghost Girl is Brooke’s first middle grade novel, illustrated by Alyssa Waterbury.

Brooke’s poetry chapbook, POCO LOCO, debuted with Anstruther Press, and their poetry can be found in journals like EVENT and The Humber Literary Review.

Brooke holds BFA and MFA degrees in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, and has worked as a professional copywriter, editor, and freelance writer, serving small business clients and large public organizations.

Brooke has taught Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and Creative Writing courses at several colleges, and continues to pursue opportunities in K-12 education.
