Brooke Carter

Brooke Carter is an award-winning author of several books for young people. Her books include the YA fantasy The Stone of Sorrow and the contemporary hi-lo books Another Miserable Love Song, Learning Seventeen (commended by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre as a Best Book for Teens), Lucky Break, The Unbroken Hearts Club (a CCBC Starred Best Book for Teens), Double or Nothing (a Junior Library Guild Gold Selection), Sulfur Heart and Star Eaters. Brooke’s first middle grade novel, Ghost Girl, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Hackmatack Award and 2025 Chocolate Lily Award. It was also commended by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre as a Best Book for Kids and was named one of New York Public Library’s Best Books for Kids.

Brooke holds BFA and MFA degrees in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, as well as a teaching degree from Simon Fraser University. She lives, writes, and teaches in BC, where she dedicates her time to promoting literacy through education and accessible fiction for young people.
